The Results of Our 2024 Work Are in: High School Voter Registration Is a Key Pillar to Strengthening Our Democracy.

The bulk of The Civics Center’s registrations resulted from authentic, in person, student-led voter registration drives held in high schools across the country last year.

TurboVote is our online voter registration provider, and they just sent us an analysis of our 2024 turnout results for the young people who registered or preregistered to vote with The Civics Center online.

For the 18- and 19-year-olds who had registered or preregistered with us, the 2024 general election turnout rate was 23 percentage points higher than the national average!

The bulk of The Civics Center’s registrations resulted from authentic, in person, student-led voter registration drives held in high schools across the country last year.

The results reinforce the impact and urgency of our work.

Registered youth turn out at high rates when they know what’s at stake. High school voter registration means participating as part of a community with peers and trusted adults. It’s a key pillar to strengthen our democracy by building a larger, more representative electorate. Twice a year, every year.

High school voter registration deserves sustained attention and resources to help it scale.
