CASE STUDY:
Statewide Impact in New Hampshire
The Civics Center + Open Democracy NH
Over the past three years, The Civics Center has led a transformative partnership in New Hampshire alongside Open Democracy. Our collaborative approach has driven measurable improvements in youth voter registration state-wide:
🏫 36 voter registration drives across 25 NH high schools in 2024 alone.
📊 In two separate independent evaluations, communities with drives saw more than a 6 percentage point higher increase in registration rates than similar municipalities that did not participate (Source: Analysis by Prof. David Nickerson).
😇 The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation supported both partners to build capacity for the sustained effort needed.
🔍 Data-driven strategies ensured precision, impact, and continuous improvement.
Through this partnership, students and educators received training, materials, and direct support—demonstrating how targeted investments can create systemic change.

Join The Ready to Vote Coalition
The Civics Center created the Ready to Vote Coalition — a network of national, statewide, and local organizations — to ensure that young people are ready to vote in their first election. Coalition members will seek to support student-led voter registration drives in high schools around the country.
